I’ve decided to join in #marchmeetthemaker and today is about style.

If you read my stories yesterday, I alluded to the things I have a massive love of; glitter, shiny things and animal print but my style evolves all the time and I don’t have a set look.

I’m a branding nightmare - ask @buttercrumblecreative who have the ‘wonderful’ task of trying to rein me in when I need something creating as I like so many different styles, I want them all, but ‘all’ is very confusing to you.

That said, the positive with not having one set style is that when it comes to working with me, you will always get the look you want and not the one I want you to have.

If you look through my pictures things change from light to dark, pastel to bold, Renaissance to modern so any idea you have, I’m there for it and if you love disco and neon as much as I do then I beg you to book me!

I’m backkkkkk!

I have been rather quiet over on this page whilst I’ve adjusted to having two little ones in the house (and we all know that’s more than it should be atm) but I’m missing the interaction with you all.
Thank you for following me - new or existing, whilst I’ve been so absent. I thought I’d start again with a little picture of me (although not recent as no one needs to see the lockdown effect) and I’m going to share eight facts about me on my Instagram stories as I keep getting tagged in posts about those.

Today we ask our global community to please post this image, and all join together across social media to stand up for weddings.

Stand up for weddings. Stand up for engaged couples. Stand up for suppliers and venues. Stand up for creatives. Stand up for culture. Stand up for society. Stand up for artists. Stand up for your friends or family.

The global wedding industry employs millions of people in every corner of the world. It is dominated by female led businesses who contribute billions to economies. It creates millions of memories in the minds and hearts of people in every part of society.

In most countries we are still heavily restricted or banned from working during the pandemic. In the U.K. we have been closed in all but name since March 2020 without any meaningful or targeted financial support. Couples have not been told when they can marry again, or in what capacity.

We ask our leaders for financial support and guidance on reopening. We must not lose our talent. We must not lose livelihoods. We must not forget the importance of love and commitment.

Will you and all your followers please stand. Encourage others to join in. Tag your guests and supplies, your colleagues and your friends. Tell your story. Let’s ensure we are seen and heard.

You don’t need me to tell you about 2020 but where there’s been lots of sadness, most of us have looked for positives.
For me, the big one of course has been having a second little girl - hence why I’ve been so quiet recently as she’s only a month old now.

However it’s also been about work. I lost all my paid jobs for the year but I took the opportunity to say yes to as many styled shoots as I could manage and with that comes new creative ideas, new locations and lots of new industry friends to work with which has been amazing.

Today was the due date of Ellen’s now 11 day old so we’re having a little celebration of that and last but definitely not least...

... it’s the anniversary of this lovely pair who Ellen helped plan the wedding of at Lartington Hall. A beautiful Christmas affair in a gorgeous setting.

Well today is the day and I’m so proud of this outcome. I absolutely loved styling this scene alongside @bureaubotany thanks to @bohochicweddings fantastic concept of how the shoot should look. ⠀

White Rabbits!

I had my worst bout of insomnia last night with a record two hours sleep so I forgot to say ‘white rabbits’ to anyone in the house.

Do you do this? It’s something we try to remember on the 1st of each month to bring us good luck so I’m saying it to you all digitally as we could all definitely do with some since last night!

Today also marks a month countdown to my due date so I’m trying to focus on that excitement rather than let the upset of the country get to me.

My mum used to take me to local stately homes all the time when I was a kid until we got into horses and then every weekend became about competitions. ⠀
⠀
Fast forward to the last ten years and I started to reintroduce myself to visiting them. I never dreamed about getting married growing up but once I’d met my husband I sort of knew he was the one and that it would happen at some point and on a trip to Newby Hall together not long after we’d got together, I visualised myself for the first time, having a wedding there. ⠀
⠀
Apparently when I was really little, I’d walk round all the Hall’s rooms and declare to any stranger who would listen, that they were mine because I was a princess! ⠀
I guess the inner princess came out again and I saw myself standing on these steps in a big dress, pretending the venue was mine - if just for one day. ⠀
⠀
The hardest thing about being involved in the wedding world if you also choose to get married yourself, is deciding what to do and who you’ll work with. We meet SO many great connections and involve ourselves in different themes and trends, if you’re anything like me, you want it all! ⠀
⠀
When the time actually came to tie the knot, I was already involved in the industry and my ideas had changed BUT this place will always have a soft spot for me and so when I got the chance to plan and style a shoot here, I jumped at it. ⠀

If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know I’m a lover of a good pun or play on words. ⠀

We talk about people being ‘extra’ nowadays when we refer to them being over the top of the expected but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. ⠀

If you can’t have the guest numbers you wanted for your wedding or event, why not invest the money on extra details? Have flowers and make them grow from the heads of statues! ⠀
⠀
I’ve worked a lot of weddings and events where couples or clients have had to make sacrifices on food choices or styling details because of the volume of people they want to invite. Let me stress, that isn’t wrong either. It’s about what’s the most important thing to you but when that choice is taken out of our hands, let’s readdress what you can do instead. ⠀

Tuesday saw me help plan and style my last photo shoot of 2020 before I start my maternity leave in November. ⠀
Previously I only undertook three to four shoots a year but with lack of any other work, I’ve really enjoyed doing so many more. ⠀
⠀
Not only does it give me so many beautiful images from a culmination of all sorts of talented suppliers but I get to socialise in a (safe) work capacity. ⠀
⠀
I imagine the adjustment for lots of you previously office based workers, to solely working at home has been really hard and although the last four years have been like that for me, it’s the events and shoots that keep me sane as we all need some sorts of human interaction to keep us going! ⠀
⠀
This shoot perhaps could be considered a different style for me but I think that’s what I’ve loved the most this year. I’ve tried to be involved with something that appeals to all sorts of audiences to show you that you can have whatever you want for your event and all of these styles can cross from weddings to private parties to big (wishful thinking) corporate events - there are no rules! ⠀
